Windhill Advice Service
We are an independent advice service and have very experienced staff to help you with your problems. We are a Quality Marked service and are audited by Advice Quality Services. We are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Ref No: FRN 624804) and are members of AdviceUK which is the Umbrella organisation for Independent Advice Agencies. We have been funded by Bradford Council since 1992.
We offer free, confidential, impartial, independent and reliable advice. We mainly handle benefit, debt, housing, disability issues and we dealt with 2842 enquiries between March 2017 and April 2018. In addition, we brought £725,171 into the area in financial gains (helping people to claim the benefits they are entitled to), and we stabilised 25 debt situations, which amounted to £34,345 of debt.
There are four members of the team: Helen Roberts, Jana Elles, Alan Abbott and Shazia Akhtar. We have more than 60 years of experience between us!!
Our annual customer survey shows that 95% would recommend the service to a family or friend. 100% of people felt the adviser understood their problem and 95 % felt they got information that was easy to understand. We had some fabulous quotes as well: –

There are many challenges ahead with Welfare Reform changes and the way that Bradford Council are commissioning advice in the future. We will be delivering advice under a sub contract from January 16, 2017. This means we will be delivering the majority of our advice services in outreach sessions such as a GP’s surgeries. We will also be delivering advice over a wider area which means that there will be fewer appointments at the Community Centre – please understand that these are the changes that the Local Authority has requested. We will continue to deliver a high quality service. We are grateful that we have funding for a further 3 years and look forward to working under the new contract.
